The change of acth and cortisol hormone level in meditation participants of satria nusantara
Senam Pernapasan Satria Nusantara (SPSN) founded in Indonesia has been widely used for health improvement. However, the mechanism is still unknown. In view of relationship between physical and emotional control employed in SPSN, psychoneuroimmunological concept would be appropriate in resolving the problem. The study on 25 SPSN participants (tingkat gabungan and tingkat pengendalian keras) and 25 SPSN pre-elementary participants (untrained) was an experimental study with pretest-posttest control group design. This study was to examine meditation effect on ACTH and cortisol response in SPSN participants. The results showed that meditation increased ACTH (mean 7.53 + SD 11.79) and cortisol level (mean 1.61 + SD 2.37) p < 0.05. ACTH response on mediation signals change was more sensitive than cortisol response. Higher variable ACTH response was expected due to variance of capability between tingkat gabungan and tingkat pengendalian keras participants.
