    Abstract :

    The Objective of this research is to develop an effective teaching method of English for beginners which at the same time develop their emotional intelligence. It is expected that this model enables English teachers at the elementary schools to apply and develop a kind of method so that the new generation of the Indonesian people will be emotionally more intelligent at the same time. This method which is suitable for the purpose is called communicative method which is incorporated in cooperative learning. There are three affective variables which are closely related with second language acquisitim : anxiety, motivation and self-confidence and there are seven characteristics of emotional intelligence which are Fried to be developed; confidence, eagerness, will, self-control, empathy, communicative competence, cooperativeness.
